This year we had a chance to follow the greatest sports event at Paris. As always, Olympic Games were exciting, touching, surprising and unforgettable.
And, of course, we couldn't skip the fashion part of the event. We are thrilled to present the list of our favorite leotards from rhythmic gymnastics competitions. There were 24 gymnasts competing in the qualifications round with their 4 programs, and we have seen a total of 96 different leotards.
Here is our top choice list with some explanations as to why exactly these leotards were selected for the list.
We really like the leotards that were designed for a specific program. When a gymnast starts her performance, the leotards help to create the first feeling of the upcoming program. An example of such a leotard is Stiliana Nikolova's eastern ball program leotard that is inspired by music from the Aladdin cartoon.
Barbara Domingo's jungle-themed leotard has a special detail of a lion's head.
It is so exciting to examine the details of a leotard, especially if there are small (or why not bigger as well) hints to the program in them.
For example, Daria Atamanov's hoop program leotard expresses feelings and shades of the music and has a couple on it.
Milena Baldassarri's hoop program leotard has a dragon on its back.
Hoop program leotard of Fanni Pigniczki with a small Eiffel Tower made of rhinestones as an honor to this year's Olympics hometown.
Annaliese Draganin's hoop program leotard has a pattern of a spider's web.
Darja Varfolomeev hoop and ball programs leotards. One is related to "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." movie and another one to Michael Jackson's song "In the Closet". Both leotards perfectly accompany the musics.
We have enjoyed all the romantic-style leotards that were presented in the city of love. For example, Stiliana Nikolova's hoop program with a white and light leotard.
Absolutely different but close in style is the white leotard worn by Elzhana Taniyeva for her ball routine.
Sofia Raffaeli's hoop and ball leotards were absolutely elegant and romantically styled.
Another stunning trend in rhythmic gymnastics leotard design is monochromatic, i.e. the usage of a single color for the whole leotard. An example is Margarita Kolosov's ball leotard.
Also, Alexandra Kiroi-Bogatyreva wore a black single-colored leotard with dark green rhinestones for her hoop program.
And Sofia Raffaeli had a black leotard with silver stripes for her club program.
We really liked the combination of violet and blue in Milena Baldassarri's leotard for her ball routine.
As well as the combination of violet and bright pink in Helene Karbanov's ball routine leotard.
Evita Griskenas has exactly the same leotards for her hoop and ball programs. The only difference is in colors. A very interesting idea that has not been seen before. By the way, both leotards were monochromatic, i.e., single-colored blue and red.
If leotards without rhinestones were mostly used by Azerbaijan team members before, this time we have seen leotards with no rhinestones at all, for example, on Australian gymnast Alexandra Kiroi-Bogatyreva and Spanish gymnast Alba Bautista, meaning that the trend is expanding.
Which leotard did you like the most? Who was wearing it and why did this leotard or leotards become your favorite?
